Pre-Theatre Menu in Covent Garden

EXPERIENCE

OSTERIA BY BOCCONCINO

Looking for the perfect spot for a relaxed lunch on the Strand or a pre-theatre dinner near London’s West End?

At Osteria by Bocconcino, we combine refined Italian cooking with the energy of Covent Garden, just moments from the capital’s most iconic stages.

Our Lunch & Theatre Set Menu runs Monday to Friday, 12 pm – 6:30 pm, making it ideal for both leisurely midday dining and early evening meals before the curtain rises. Choose between two or three courses, featuring signature dishes such as Scottish beef carpaccio with sharp mustard sauce, crisp fried chicken Milanese, and whole butterfly sea bass with salsa verde. Finish with Italian classics like our creamy gelato or a rich chocolate Basque cheesecake. Served with a complimentary glass of Prosecco.

Expect an elegant dining room with open kitchens, the aroma of charcoal-grilled seafood and meats, and service designed around the rhythm of the city — quick enough for theatre-goers, but never rushed.
The pre-theatre menu at Osteria by Bocconcino is built for the rhythm of the West End. Two and three courses of authentic Italian dishes, served fast enough to make the curtain and slow enough to feel like a proper dinner. The set menu runs Monday to Friday, lunch through to early evening, in a Covent Garden restaurant a short walk from the Savoy, the Vaudeville, the Lyceum and the Royal Opera House.

We see the rhythm every night. Reservations land at six, dinner is finished by quarter past seven, and the room empties out for the seven-thirty curtain. The kitchen is paced for it, the staff know the timings of the major theatre district shows, and the bill arrives without anyone having to ask. It is the sort of pre-theatre dinner that the West End was built to support, served at the standard of an a la carte Italian restaurant.

Typical dishes include burrata with plum tomatoes and pesto, beef tartare with potato millefeuille and cheese fondue, scallops with pumpkin cream, tagliatelle with rich beef ragù, saffron ossobuco risotto, sirloin steak, and whole sea bass with salsa verde.

The set menu is priced below the à la carte, with optional wine pairings focused on Italian regions. Service is timed to fit West End schedules so you can dine properly and still reach your show comfortably.
